Where does inspired design begin?
With an idea. But not just any idea, THE idea. The one that speaks to you and, more importantly, to your audience. It’s journey organically evolves as sketches and rough layouts transform into a visually captivating design that does more than appeal to the eye, it tells your story. And if I do my job right, your story will be as beautiful as it is unforgettable.
Why Think & Paper?
Thoughts to pen. Pen to paper. Paper to design. I like to begin every project “old school.” Brainstorming concepts on paper - sketching, note-taking, scribbles… the way to jump start my creative process.
From there I am able to translate the madness into design - whether logos, publications, collateral designs, digital media - you name it. The physical process of a pen to paper is just the beginning.
Hi, I’m Abbi!
And I’ve wanted to pursue a career in the arts for as long as I can remember (well, except for those two years I detoured towards a Veterinary Medicine degree but thankfully, I got back on track). I start each day with a strong pot of coffee, a playlist from the Rat Pack (and occasionally Christmas in July), and then I jump into creative mode. With every new client or project, I break down the larger goal into visual pieces, considering such questions as: How will people see it? Where will they see it? What action will they take because of it?
As a professional graphic designer for over 17 years, I understand that my design preferences may have to take a back seat to a client’s specific needs and that’s okay. My job as a designer is similar to a chameleon - I am inspired to adapt to a client’s style as if it were my favorite. At the end of the day, exceptional graphic design is an immersive process. I look at it from every angle - the client, budget, parameters, applications, audience - then I set to work developing a design that creatively and effectively does its job. It is so much more than simply sitting down to make something ‘pretty’; it is about creating something that matters and makes a positive impact in the success story of each client I work with. I hope you’ll soon be one of them.
